For rooftop-tent travel
Keep the overnight places that worked with a rooftop tent
After a night by Lake Siljan or a windy morning outside Gävle, save the overnight place, one photo and a short note while the memory is fresh.
Keep the places that worked
The freedom to stop in different places also makes them easy to forget. Which forest road was north of Mora? Where was the sheltered bay outside Gävle?
FARON keeps a private map of the overnight stays you choose. An entry takes under a minute and the result grows with each weekend away.
Private overnight places
Not every good rooftop-tent place belongs on a public list
A small forest road, a sheltered pull-off or a place near sensitive ground may work for one careful night. Once it becomes an open pin, traffic and pressure can change it quickly.
Keep the useful context
Save the place with a photo and a short note about why you would return with your rooftop tent.
Avoid another crowded tip
Your own observations stay in the archive instead of becoming a public pin everyone follows.
Share selectively
Send one trip to a friend when it makes sense without opening your full place archive.
Why keep a place private? Read about saving trips without a public feed.
A rooftop-tent traveller on FARON
“Now I remember more than the view”
“The note about the access road and wind is what helps next season. The photo alone never carried that detail.”
Log a rooftop-tent night
Park and open the tent
Once the place is chosen, open FARON and add the overnight stay from your position or the map.
Keep the details
Confirm the date, tag the accommodation and add a note or photo if it will help later.
Build the archive
The place joins your map and becomes part of a visual record across weekends and seasons.
Save the place while the tent is open
Rooftop-tent travel leaves room for spontaneous turns. Logging should be just as light: save the overnight stay when useful and continue with the morning.
Core overnight and stop entries can wait locally when coverage is weak and sync after the connection returns. Photos need a connection to upload.
A weekend in Dalarna, midsummer on the coast, the last autumn night before frost. Each chosen place can remain on the map.
From the first night to better place choices
A map pin is only part of a safe overnight decision. Access, surface, signs, weather, local rules and a backup plan still need to be assessed on site.
Keep those observations with your own overnight stay. FARON is an archive of your experience, not a promise that a place remains suitable for somebody else or on another date.

Common questions about FARON and rooftop tents
Can I log a night outside a campsite?
Yes. Choose the position from the map or your current location and save the overnight stay regardless of place type. You remain responsible for local rules and access.
Are my overnight places private?
Yes. Places and trips are private by default. Only a specific journey you actively share becomes visible to somebody else.
Does logging work offline?
Core overnight and stop entries can wait locally and sync when coverage returns. Photos, imports, sharing and larger changes need a connection.
How much does FARON cost?
FARON is free for 60 days. Premium is then needed to add new overnight stays, stops and trips.
