FARON is a progressive web app
A progressive web app runs from the web but can sit on the home screen and open in its own app window.
The installation command belongs to the browser: Chrome on Android and Safari on iPhone. FARON is not downloaded from Google Play or Apple's App Store.
Add FARON to the home screen
Android: use Chrome
Open faron.se in Chrome, open the three-dot browser menu, choose Install app and confirm. Some Android phones show the install option directly.
iPhone: use Safari
Open faron.se in Safari, tap Share, scroll to Add to Home Screen and tap Add. The installation is handled by Safari.
Launch from the FARON icon
After installation, open FARON from the home screen like any other app and sign in to your existing account.
The exact menu label can vary slightly
On Android, look for Install app or Add to Home screen in Chrome. On iPhone, the command is inside Safari's share sheet.
If the option is missing, confirm that the page is open in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone rather than an in-app browser.
Offline use has clear limits
FARON works best online. Previously opened trips, saved overnight stays and stops, packing lists and downloaded maps can work without coverage, while imports, sharing, photos and larger changes need a connection.
