FindPenguins to FARON
Move FindPenguins routes with GPX, then review the photographs
FindPenguins documents a GPX download for each trip on its website. FARON can read several of those route files, then let you add photographs separately and review where they belong before the import is saved.
A GPX route and a photo archive carry different parts of the journey
The route file contains tracks and waypoints, not the original image files. Copying only the GPX leaves the visual memories behind.
FARON therefore treats the route files and selected photographs as two inputs, with a review between analysis and saving.
Move the journey trip by trip
Download each route
On the FindPenguins website, open a trip, choose Edit and use Download route (GPX). Repeat for each journey you want to move.
Add GPX files and photographs
Choose one or more GPX files in FARON, then select the relevant photographs separately because GPX does not contain the image files.
Review every match
Inspect which photo belongs to which selected stop, move or clear a match, or keep an image as a general trip photo before saving.
A photograph taken near a waypoint is still only a suggestion
FARON analyses available dates and GPS metadata locally in the browser to propose a match. A corrected camera clock or missing location can make that proposal imperfect.
Review it. Move it. Save only when the route, stop and image relationship looks right.
Elevation data is preserved when the GPX contains it
A GPX file with elevation values can supply the route's elevation profile directly. Files without those values cannot create the same detail from the GPX alone.
